Great book bit confusing for a UK user

Lovely book really impressed with the patterns, most of which are as similar to the items in the films as you could get. The photography of the garments and the layout of the book is also good and I love the skill levels given for each item. As a UK reader I have found the types of wool referred to and the US terms confusing but think I've got things worked out now. A must for a Harry Potter fan who likes to knit. I think over time I will do most of the patterns, the baby hats are just tooooo cute and I love the Weasley sweater and the various hats and socks. I'm not keen on Mrs Weasley's coat which is the only item that I wouldn't make. I can appreciate the pattern and work that would go into it but its a lot of work for something that I can't see be worn and its the only pattern that isn't a good match to the clothing in the films. All in all though a great book and well worth the money.

A goood, well thought out book that will keep you busy for ages!There is a large selection of patterns from some well known classics such as the house scarf and the weasly jumper, to more inspired creations such as the beautiful lacework invisibility cloak.I have tried my hands at a couple of patterns and they seem to work ok, however wool recomendations are out of date and as it is an american book some of the instructions would be slightly differant in England, easy enough to figure out though and one handy feature is telling you the exact length of wool needed for the project, so you dont have to buy more or less wool than needed.

A must for HP fans

I love Harry Potter and throught the books knitting has a very active role so its wonderful how Hansel has created a book for fans of HP to knit such wonderful designs and make everyday magical!The patterns have various degrees of difficulty which are highlighted as first year, OWL or NEWT, and lots of things to knit in your house colours.There are patterns for jumpers, scarfs, socks, as well as the invincibility cloak (a shawl), owls and even wand cosies!As a bit of a sock knitter I loved the patterns for quidditch and house socks as well as dobbies sock, harry's sock and socks with broomsticks and snitches!Its a wonderful book with lots of humour and delight, as well as patterns that are easy to understand :)
